About Dr. Shirin Hebert.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dr. Shirin Sabbaghian Hebert has received her training at top institutions in the United States with the purpose of providing excellent care for patients in Louisiana. She is now proud to call Acadiana home.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
After graduating in Microbiology at Louisiana State University as a University Medalist (maintained a 4.0 average) and Summa Cum Laude, she performed research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, studying Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in long term nonprogressors. She then attended Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans, where she was chosen to be a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She graduated at the top of her class. She moved on to complete her training in General Surgery at New York University in New York, New York. While there, she completed a 2-year clinical research fellowship studying benign gallbladder disease and pancreatic cancer. She then completed more specialized training as a Fellow of Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focus while there included clinical applications of robotic surgery applied to diseases of the liver. She has published in many peer reviewed journals and co-authored several surgical book chapters.
